UPDATED: Communication for St. Gregory the Great Parish, Oshawa

January 5, 2022

Dear parishioners of St. Gregory the Great Parish:

May the joy of the Newborn King accompany you in the New Year! I hope it was a blessed and relaxing time for you and your loved ones. Please know that you are in my prayers always.

Today a member of our parish pastoral team tested positive for Covid-19 on a rapid antigen test. The person is self-isolating and is doing well. We have arranged for neighbouring priests to celebrate Masses at the parish for the next several days. This weekend Bishop Vincent Nguyen has kindly agreed to celebrate Masses in our parish.

Unfortunately, our regularly scheduled confessions on Thursday and Saturday will be cancelled this week. And the parish office will remain closed until at least Monday.

At St. Gregory the Great Parish, we follow all the WorshipSafe protocols during Mass, so the risk of transmission remains low. However, in the interests of transparency, we want you to know about this exposure. We ask that you continue to self-monitor for symptoms. As we have said in the past, if you are not feeling well or experiencing Covid-19 symptoms, please do not come to church, minimize contact with others, consider a rapid antigen or PRC test and/or connect with your family doctor.

A self-assessment tool can be found by visiting:  You can also call Durham Region Public Health with COVID-19 enquiries at 905-668-2020.

Thank you for your continued co-operation as we pray for all those who are sick and those who are caring for them. In these difficult times, may we make a special effort to share the love of Christ with others.

Sincerely in Christ,

Rev. Marijan Sisko
